Kalos Hospitality is an independent design collaborative rooted in community, based in Richmond, Virginia. Where most design starts with a catalog, Kalos starts with you. The way you gather. The pieces that matter. The story already living in your space.

The Heart Behind Kalos

Kalos started where most of my favorite conversations do, at a kitchen table, over coffee, talking about home. We're the Kalos team, and we bring that same collaborative spirit to every project we take on.
I'm a Richmond-based designer with a love for spaces that hold meaning. Our work is rooted in the belief that hospitality and design aren't separate things. They shape each other. The way a room is arranged, the light it lets in, the corners it offers, all of it is an act of welcome.

We take time to really see the space. The light, the flow, the pieces worth keeping, the corners that mean something, and the moments that aren’t working yet. We look at how people move, gather, work, rest, and connect within it.

Twenty years of memory, edited and reframed. The palette pulled lighter to let the cultural pieces breathe, the heirlooms kept and honored, the rest gently let go. What's left is a room that finally feels like her, and like home.

Before You Reach Out

How is Kalos different from a traditional interior designer?

Kalos leads with hospitality, not catalogs. We don't start with a finished aesthetic we apply to your space. We start with you, your story, your culture, and the people who will live or gather inside the space. From there, we shape an environment that reflects what's already yours, holding the budget and the timeline with care. We also work just as often with community organizations as we do with homes, which shapes the way we think about every project.

Do I need to have a clear vision before reaching out?

Not at all. Some clients arrive with detailed inspiration boards. Others arrive with a feeling they can't quite name. Both are welcome. Part of what Kalos brings to a project is the listening and curation that helps you put words and shape to what you're already sensing.

What does a typical project cost?

Every project is shaped to its size, scope, and depth. Most Kalos projects fall somewhere between a single consultation and a full multi-room or community space build, with budgets ranging from under $1,000 to $15,000 and above. The best way to know what your project would look like is to reach out and start the conversation.

What kinds of projects does Kalos take on?

Kalos works with families, organizations, and community partners across a wide range of projects. That includes home design and curation, community spaces like nonprofits, schools, and churches, event spatial design, and hospitality workshops.
